USB-C and Thunderbolt docks, verified port by port

CalDigit's TS5 Plus follows the same chip-gated pattern, and caps its HDMI port at 4K60 on every Apple Silicon Mac regardless of chip tier, since that port is adapter-only rather than native.

Handheld quirks can be just as specific as macOS ones. The HP USB-C G5 Essential Dock (72C71AA) stops detecting monitors on hot-plug with a Steam Deck — but leaving the dock connected through a full cold shutdown and reboot restores video every time. The ACPI hot-plug handshake fails; the boot-time device tree mapping doesn't.
