Plugable sells several 'triple display' USB-C docks with different specs — this is the UD-ULTCDL specifically. It splits its three monitor outputs across two technologies: the first HDMI port uses native DisplayPort Alt Mode (up to 4K30), while the second and third rely on a DisplayLink DL-3900 chip and driver, capped at 1920×1200@60Hz each. The DisplayLink ports need Windows (driver installs automatically) or macOS (manual DisplayLink Manager install, plus granting it Screen Recording permission). Plugable's own product page warns that most desktop PCs and many notebooks don't support USB-C Alt Mode or Power Delivery at all — worth checking your host before buying.

Two independent, unresolved reports on macOS: intermittent monitor flickering with no public root cause, and a case where Ethernet and the 4K HDMI port stopped being recognized after upgrading to macOS 26 — fixed by switching back to the original bundled USB-C cable (the 4K port needs a cable that supports DP Alt Mode). Plugable's own knowledge base additionally documents a real issue on original UD-ULTCDL units (October 2022 and older) with Apple Silicon M1-M4 Macs: after a restart, cold boot, or wake from sleep, the dock's USB devices, both DisplayLink video outputs, Ethernet, and audio can all fail to be detected at once. Worth checking which hardware revision you're getting before buying used or open-box.
